One sure way to receive your daily dose of many essential nutrients required for optimal health for your body, is from the juice of vegetables & a little fruit, using a specific juice extractor that removes the pulp from the vegetables & fruit, leaving only the juice. This hydrating green juice is perfect first thing in the morning (or any time really) to hydrate you after a night’s sleep or a hot workout. It contains spinach, cucumber, celery, apple & lemon. And I chug down almost a liter of this vibrant, green juice six mornings a week, replacing a meal with juice.

There are many juice extractors out there, all varying in price. This is the one I use & I’ve had it for almost 10 years, using it almost daily. There are cheaper machines that will probably do as good as if not better job. If you’ve never juiced before I suggest buying a slightly cheaper one & using it to see if it’s something you want to keep doing. I hope you do. Note that a juice extractor is very different to a blender. The idea is to remove the pulp from the vegetables & fruits. This ensures key nutrients are absorbed easily into your body without having to go through the process of having to digest fiber & pulp (essentially one & the same I guess).

If you’re a newbie juicer you want to ensure you have a much higher percentage of vegetables to fruit ratio at least 80/20. Fruit juice, although much more palatable than vegetable juice due to its sweetness, is high in natural sugars so keep the fruits to a minimum. Although fruit has many health benefits, I add it to juice to make it taste better. At the end of the day, drinking vegetable juice isn’t like sipping on a cocktail, so don’t go into this thinking the juices will be yummy. They’re not. I juice purely for health benefits. If you’ve not seen Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead & the second documovie, watch them – both of them. They’re eye opening & will show you how powerful juicing can be. And while I’ve never managed a long juice fast, I do replace a meal with juice every day. It’s amazing how that one change can make a difference in your overall health & well being.
