There is no time of quite like autumn. The beautiful colors as the leaves start to change, the prospect of making pies, soups & stews, that sense of nesting. The nights get longer as the days get shorter. Fires crackling. Warmer clothes. And apples. I never truly appreciated the new season’s apples until I moved to North America. Living in Minnesota for several years, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of joy at seeing the abundant displays of apples in the stores & markets. This is what prompted me to create an apple sangria recipe – that & I also love sangria.
And this sangria is so perfect for the festive season. Or just because it’s autumn. Which really does demand a celebration.
Okay, so three different boozes – apple brandy, white wine & hard apple cider, along with ginger ale or ginger beer, ice & of course some new seasons SweeTango apples. Use the leftover apple brandy for making more sangria or in turkey gravy, yep, it’s delicious in poultry gravy. The brandy, not the sangria okay!?!
Lots of ice – always.
As I mentioned, I used SweeTango apples. Now, if you’ve never tried these apples before, you must. They’re what happens with Honeycrisp & Zestar have babies (the girl & boy respectively). Maybe they’re wasted in a sangria…or not. Because then when you get to eat, what I consider the best apple variety ev-ver, it’s been soaking in apple booze. Yeah mull over that for awhile. Oh & always drink responsibly. Toodles xo.
